Today marks exactly 12 months since I moved from my busy inner city lifestyle to the more relaxed ambiance of the Mornington Peninsula.

To be honest, I had my doubts. I certainly didn’t expect to acclimatise so quickly, but that I did. From a lifestyle point of view coastal living has a lot of advantages, especially if you have two growing boys that would spend their whole life swimming if we let them. By living a little bit further out, you get a bit more real estate for your hard earned cash too.

But the biggest win (apart from the golf courses) is the 1,548 photographic opportunities here. Don’t take this the wrong way, Melbourne is a fantastic city for photography, probably the best in Australia. But if you are after breathtaking sunsets, emerald waters, snow white sands and blood orange cliffs; then the Mornington Peninsula is the place to be. Did I mention the piers and jetties? There are about a hundred of those too.
