The coarse back beaches

It’s not all soft sand and beach huts on the Mornington Peninsula.

During the summer months I prefer to spend my time on the Port Phillip Bay side of the peninsula, but in the winter, the back beaches really set the mood. The coast here is literally weathered and wind swept, and it makes for a very different landscape.

On the day I took these images, I was hoping to get photos of St Paul’s Arch, but like so many other rocky landmarks, it has fallen. With the arch gone, I switched my attention to the rough coast and waves around Diamond Bay. I even managed to get wet with a wave catching me as I was setting up my tripod 😂
